Bulls School School Newsletter Positivity-Respect-Integrity-Determination-Excellence NEWSLETTER TERM 1 WEEK 3 Kia ora e te whānau, What a fantastic start to the term we have had! It has been wonderful to see the energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork across our kura as our tamariki, staff, and whānau continue to achieve amazing things together. There is a real buzz around the school and it has been great to see everyone getting involved, supporting one another, and celebrating success. A special highlight recently has been our Aspiration Conversations. It was fantastic to see such amazing attendance from our whānau — thank you to everyone who made the time to come along. These conversations are a wonderful opportunity for us to learn from one another as we share ideas, hopes, and goals for the year ahead. By identifying the aspirations of our whānau, students, and staff together, we can build a shared pathway forward. This combined and unified approach reminds us all of the important role we each play in supporting our tamariki to flourish. Last week’s Swimming Carnival was a highlight! It was a fabulous day filled with smiles, encouragement, singing and fun. Our tamariki showed amazing team spirit as they supported their houses and peers. It was fantastic to see so many whānau there cheering them on. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. We’re also looking forward to our TRY-athlon tomorrow. The excitement is building already and we know it will be another fun-filled event where our tamariki can challenge themselves and support their friends. The Pizza lunch, organised by our amazing BSSG, is also definitely going to be a highlight for the day.  Remember sausages, drinks and juicees will also be on sale during the event for our supporters. Keep an eye out as well for Rangitīkei Reads. You never know when or where you might spot a great book somewhere fabulous. It’s all part of the fun of celebrating reading across our school and community, so stay curious and see how many you can discover.  Thank you whaea Leigh for yet another of your fabulous initiatives. As always at this time of year, there are quite a few bugs making their way around. Please take care of yourselves and your whānau. If you or your tamariki become unwell, the best place to be is at home resting and recovering. And please remember to contact the office if your tamariki is absent. Thank you for the wonderful support you continue to show our school. Together we are creating a positive, supportive place for our tamariki to learn, grow, and thrive. Ngā mihi nui Megan Syme Changes to Our School Newsletter We have been increasing the number of school events, updates, and reminders shared on our school Facebook page to help keep our community informed in a more timely way. We are also transitioning to the Hero platform in Term 2, which will allow us to share important information directly with whānau in a more streamlined and accessible format. As a result of these changes, we are considering removing our fortnightly school newsletter. Our goal is to ensure communication with our whānau remains clear, relevant, and easy to access, while avoiding duplication of information across multiple platforms. Before making any decisions, we would value feedback from our whānau. Please feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, or any concerns about this proposed change. You can send your comments to the school office or speak with a member of the leadership team. Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to improve the way we communicate with our school community. Copyright © Bulls School 2026 Click here to unsubscribe. 2022 Term 1 Week 8

Welcome to Bulls School Charm & Lily

Kia ora koutou,

Hopefully you all received my update email on Monday closely followed by another one on Tuesday.   The truth of it is, children off school and returning to school is a bit of a revolving door at the moment. The greatest concern we have is around keeping the hubs staffed in order to ensure Health & Safety requirements can be met. Then we focus on doing our best to continue to deliver robust learning programmes.

This is the reality many schools across the country are facing and working hard to manage so let’s hope this wave soon becomes a tail and things reset to feeling a bit more ‘normal’ very soon!

BSSG – BULLS SCHOOL SUPPORT GROUP:

I am happy to report we have resurrected, like a Phoenix from the ashes, our Bulls School Support Group. Five fabulous people have put their hands up and that’s a great start. We plan to meet as a group this week and put a tentative plan together. It is likely we will look short-term for now, rather than long-term as a change to our present traffic light setting could make quite a difference to our options moving forward.

STUDY LEAVE:

Just the other day a student asked me where has Mrs Syme gone? Some of you will know she won a study award last year. Her study leave began in March. She is away for the remainder of the year studying at Te Wananga o Aotearoa. We are super proud of her and cannot wait to learn from her when she returns to us next year! Kerri Guard has stepped into an Acting Deputy Principal role but will continue to teach in the Year 7 & 8 class with 1 day a week release and Jen Weir has taken on additional responsibilities. In fact all teachers have stepped up in some way or other to fulfill roles while Megan is away – the level of dedication from our staff makes me grateful every day!

LOST PROPERTY:

This week we culled clothes from the lost property. There were over 15 sweatshirts that were either unnamed or had past pupils’ names in them. Please check that your child’s uniform is clearly named (in some cases the naming has washed out and cannot be read). This will help us get items back to their rightful owner in the future.

MUFTI DAY – EASTER RAFFLE:

This Friday is a mufti day for our tamariki. If they could bring along an item to help us make up enticing Easter Baskets for our raffles – we would be very grateful. I know this isn’t an easy time for many whānau, so please just do what you can. The same applies to selling tickets – this is a fundraiser, however, any profit goes straight back to our tamariki and so whatever the raffle makes, is all bonus dollars.

SENIOR CAMP:

Huge tautoko to Kerri & Nikita and the team of caregivers who helped make this happen. You provided our tamariki with outstanding learning opportunities connected to their in-class learning! I visited on the Bushy Park day and saw a manu I had never seen before, a Saddleback! It was such an awesome place and I highly recommend it!

Over the past few weeks I have received many kind emails or gestures ‘checking in’ on how we are going as a school. Just as I am grateful to our staff, I am also grateful to our whānau – for all you do to support your tamariki and us!

2022 Senior Camp to Whanganui

Tuarongo made it to camp last week and had an absolute blast! On Monday morning we set off for Whanganui to start our three day adventure. We explored different places in Whanganui, such as the Sergeant Art Gallery, Waimārie Paddle Boat and Bushy Park. We all had such an amazing time and the children really did Bulls School proud by consistently demonstrating their PRIDE values. Miss Guard and Mrs B are really proud of the children for getting out of their comfort zone. Thank you so much to the parents who came to help. Without you, it wouldn’t have gone ahead!

This weeks KIND KID is: Charlie W

Ngā Kākano

Whaea Kate and Whaea Jo are super proud of our cherubs in Ngā Kākano. They have shown great resilience and positivity this term and have not let the disruptions of sickness and covid dampen their enthusiasm for learning. They are blossoming in the face of adversity.  We have created some fantastic artwork which makes our classroom a colourful and cheerful environment. Friendships continue to flourish and it makes our day to see how much growth, both socially and academically, is happening each and every day.

POU TĀHŪ

We have been doing some STEAM activities in Pou Tāhū this term – it is so fantastic to be able to see the creativity and the different spin each tauira takes on from these. We have shared a lot of these through Seesaw with you and our tamariki are becoming superstars at managing to upload and do their voice recordings for you. With wet weather hitting us please help us by including a spare change of pants in their bags. We are looking forward to having more staff back next week and how lucky are we to have so many whānau connected to Seesaw – we really value your input into your child’s learning journey!

Notices & Reminders

If you find head lice or eggs – you need to treat them. Repeat the treatment: 7–10 days later for chemical treatments and every day for wet combing if you can manage it, but at least every 2 to 3 days.

For more information, talk to your pharmacist, doctor or nurse.

If you have any second-hand uniform you would like to donate we would greatly appreciate it.

Please drop off at the office. Thank you.
