COVID 19 UPDATE FOR WHĀNAU

Kia ora whānau,

Today isn’t a newsletter day but I wanted to take the opportunity to share some updates with you. I know that there is A LOT of talk out there about cases of covid in and around us.

At the time of writing this update, I know of no positive cases in our school.

We all know that could change in an instant, but for now, that is the information I have regarding our staff and students.

Our community is facing a variety of different challenges as we navigate the waters that are Omicron however all we can really do is take each day as it comes and does our very best to keep things ‘as normal as possible for our tamariki.

At Bulls School our role is healthy, absences due to sickness are currently no more than usual.  It is important to remember: IF YOUR CHILD IS SHOWING ANY SYMPTOMS PLEASE KEEP THEM AT HOME UNTIL THEY ARE SYMPTOM-FREE.

SYMPTOMS INCLUDE:

  • New or worsening cough
  • Sneezing and runny nose
  • Fever
  • Temporary loss of smell or altered sense of taste
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath

LESS COMMON SYMPTOMS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Headache
  • Muscle aches
  • Nausea/vomiting

I have attached the most recent poster helping us to understand what type of contact you are when you or someone you live with or know,  tests positive.

When we know about a positive case in our school, we will let our community know without identifying or complicating the lives of the whānau involved. Confidentiality is important and we intend to respect that.

Thank you for trusting in us and our dedication to your child/ren. While so much is happening around them that is out of their or your control, the school remains a stable place.

That said, should we find ourselves in the position of not having enough well teachers and staff on-site, we will be moving to online learning or perhaps a mixture of online and face-to-face learning. We are very aware of the impact this has on whānau – so will do our best to avoid this.

I hope this information is useful to you and perhaps reassures you as we all travel this journey of uncertainty together.

Ngā mihi

Kim Gordon – Tumuaki
