Kia ora e te whānau,

At our kura, we believe that education is about so much more than just reading, writing, and maths. It’s about nurturing the whole child — tamariki who are confident in who they are, connected to their culture, and equipped to navigate the world around them with resilience, empathy, and curiosity.

We are deeply committed to providing a holistic education that supports the social, emotional, physical, and academic growth of every child. Each day, our kaimahi – staff work with care and intention to create safe, inclusive, and stimulating spaces where tamariki can thrive — not just as learners, but as people. We celebrate their strengths, support them through challenges, and walk alongside them as they grow into their full potential.

But we know this journey is not one we take alone.

Whānau, your role in your child’s life is powerful and irreplaceable. The aroha, values, connections, guidance, and support you provide at home lay the foundation for everything they learn and become. We are so grateful for the trust you place in us, and value you as essential partners in the mahi of raising confident, capable, and compassionate young people.

Together — school and whānau — we share the responsibility of nurturing your tamariki. Your support, presence, and involvement make a real difference. Whether it’s a chat at the gate, attending events, helping with learning at home, or simply showing interest in your child’s day, it all matters.

As we continue through the year, we remain dedicated to walking alongside you, and to ensuring that every child feels seen, valued, and supported in all aspects of their development. We are proud of the unique gifts each tamaiti child brings to our kura, and together, we will help them grow, flourish, and succeed — in every way possible.

REMINDER

All Board of Trustees voting forms must be returned or posted to the returning officer Diana Jensen by 4pm on Tuesday 16th of Septmeber. 

Union Meeting – Early Collection Request

Due to a Union meeting on Wednesday, 27th August, we will have a reduced number of staff on site in the afternoon.

If you are able to do so, we kindly ask that you collect your child/ren at the end of lunch at 1:45pm on that day.

REGISTRATIONS CLOSE 3RD SEPTEMBER

Scooters & Bikes at School

We are happy that our children use these methods to get to school. Once they reach the school grounds, we expect them to push their wheels to the bike stands to avoid accidents and mishaps. If your child is unable to adhere to these guidelines, we may have to ask them to discontinue bringing their bikes or scooters to school.

Students must place their wheels in the stands as soon as they arrive. We discourage ‘other’ types of wheels as this can create unnecessary issues. Our bike track is for everyones enjoyment. Helmets must be worn at all times.

Uniform Code

All students wear the Bulls School polo shirt, polar fleece, a Sports & Cultural top, and the logoed red bucket hat available from Academy Apparel in Palmerston North. Their ‘bottom’ is non-regulation other than a colour restriction to plain black (no writing, logos, stripes or other colours). Shoes need to be suitable for school wear.

Please name ALL clothing and shoes.

• In Terms 1 and 4 of each year, red Bulls School bucket hats must be worn when outdoors.
• If hair is long, we request it be tied back for safety, hygiene and practical purposes.
• Hair styles and colours should be as natural as possible and avoid extreme ‘trends’
• which may be seen as threatening.
• Jewellery should be kept to a minimum and not pose any health or safety dangers.

SUBSCRIBE TO APP GROUPS 

Di has refreshed this and named each group with 2025 so you know it’s relevant and up to date. You will all need to join the groups specific to your tamariki.

This has important notices for either the whole school or specific groups, eg: Bus Students, Sports, Cultural, Hubs, etc, that you can join according to what your child’s involved in.

Many notices or reminders go out via the APP, so it is an important tool for parents to be aware of what is due eg: permission slips and dates for events offsite, transport required etc. This is also an efficient way to provide absence notices.

In many cases, parental permission may be given via the app as well.
