CROSS COUNTRY 2024

Kia ora koutou,

Congratulations to all of our students who ran our Cross Country last week. The weather was awesome and so were our children’s attitudes! Well done to those who gained a place and good luck to our Interschool team heading to Hunterville tomorrow.  

You may have noticed this newsletter is late. Aroha mai – I was relieving in a junior class yesterday so our junior teachers could be released to do Literacy Professional Development. There is a Ministry of Education expectation that by the beginning of next year, schools will be delivering the new Literacy and Numeracy curriculums which we are about to receive in their completed forms over the coming weeks.  

Our recent Teachers Only day had a numeracy/maths focus so we can all be on the same page with regards to the maths programmes Bulls School has chosen to complement our maths journey into 2025.  We have chosen Numicon for Years 0-3 and Maths No Problem for Years 4-8. 

This term is BUSY! You may have noticed this already and we are always grateful for the support of our whānau with transport, sports coaching, fundraising, and more!

As we continue to tick off the various events and activities taking place, we will soon find ourselves in December!  We have our first-ever Whānau Camp Out, the Community Concert,  Prizegivings, and the Bulls Christmas parade. Keep a close eye on the calendar so these events don’t sneak up on you. 

Speaking of our Camp Out…we have closed off registrations and are now working through the responses to work out who needs what equipment. We are now developing a plan for this fabulous event. Watch this space. 

Finally – please support us with this being a hat term. Sun safety is something our tamariki find difficult to reconcile with but we know that it is a preventative action due to the harshness of our UV index.  There is a notice below about our compulsory hat expectations from 2025.

This is just a reminder that our Bulls School hats will become a compulsory uniform item from February 2025. They are available from Academy Apparel in Palmerston North. We plan to get a supply of hats so they can be purchased from the school office for $20.

Scooters & Bikes at School

We are happy that our children use these methods to get to school. Once they reach the school grounds we expect them to push their wheels to the bike stands in order to avoid accidents and mishaps. If your child is unable to adhere to these guidelines we may have to ask them to discontinue bringing their bikes or scooters to school. Students must place their wheels in the stands as soon as they arrive. We discourage ‘other’ types of wheels as this can create unnecessary issues. Our bike track is for everyones enjoyment. Helmets must be worn at all times.

Uniform Code

All students wear the Bulls School polo shirt, polar fleece, a sport & Cultural top, and the logoed red bucket hat available from Academy Apparel in Palmerston North. Their ‘bottom’ is non-regulation other than a colour restriction to plain black (no writing, logos, stripes or other colours). Shoes need to be suitable for school wear.

Please name ALL clothing and shoes.

In Terms 1 and 4 of each year, red Bulls School bucket hats must be worn when outdoors.

SUBSCRIBE TO APP GROUPS 

Di has refreshed this and named each group with 2024 so you know it’s relevant and up to date. You will all need to join the groups specific to your tamariki.

This has important notices for either the whole school or specific groups eg: Bus Students, Sports, Cultural, Hubs, etc that you can join according to what your child’s involved in.

Many notices or reminders go out via the APP so it is an important tool for parents to be aware of what is due eg: permission slips and dates for events offsite, transport required etc. This is also an efficient way to provide absence notices.

In many cases, parental permission may be given via the app as well.
