Bulls School School Newsletter Positivity-Respect-Integrity-Determination-Excellence NEWSLETTER TERM 1 WEEK 3 Kia ora e te whānau, What a fantastic start to the term we have had! It has been wonderful to see the energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork across our kura as our tamariki, staff, and whānau continue to achieve amazing things together. There is a real buzz around the school and it has been great to see everyone getting involved, supporting one another, and celebrating success. A special highlight recently has been our Aspiration Conversations. It was fantastic to see such amazing attendance from our whānau — thank you to everyone who made the time to come along. These conversations are a wonderful opportunity for us to learn from one another as we share ideas, hopes, and goals for the year ahead. By identifying the aspirations of our whānau, students, and staff together, we can build a shared pathway forward. This combined and unified approach reminds us all of the important role we each play in supporting our tamariki to flourish. Last week’s Swimming Carnival was a highlight! It was a fabulous day filled with smiles, encouragement, singing and fun. Our tamariki showed amazing team spirit as they supported their houses and peers. It was fantastic to see so many whānau there cheering them on. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. We’re also looking forward to our TRY-athlon tomorrow. The excitement is building already and we know it will be another fun-filled event where our tamariki can challenge themselves and support their friends. The Pizza lunch, organised by our amazing BSSG, is also definitely going to be a highlight for the day.  Remember sausages, drinks and juicees will also be on sale during the event for our supporters. Keep an eye out as well for Rangitīkei Reads. You never know when or where you might spot a great book somewhere fabulous. It’s all part of the fun of celebrating reading across our school and community, so stay curious and see how many you can discover.  Thank you whaea Leigh for yet another of your fabulous initiatives. As always at this time of year, there are quite a few bugs making their way around. Please take care of yourselves and your whānau. If you or your tamariki become unwell, the best place to be is at home resting and recovering. And please remember to contact the office if your tamariki is absent. Thank you for the wonderful support you continue to show our school. Together we are creating a positive, supportive place for our tamariki to learn, grow, and thrive. Ngā mihi nui Megan Syme Changes to Our School Newsletter We have been increasing the number of school events, updates, and reminders shared on our school Facebook page to help keep our community informed in a more timely way. We are also transitioning to the Hero platform in Term 2, which will allow us to share important information directly with whānau in a more streamlined and accessible format. As a result of these changes, we are considering removing our fortnightly school newsletter. Our goal is to ensure communication with our whānau remains clear, relevant, and easy to access, while avoiding duplication of information across multiple platforms. Before making any decisions, we would value feedback from our whānau. Please feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, or any concerns about this proposed change. You can send your comments to the school office or speak with a member of the leadership team. Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to improve the way we communicate with our school community. Copyright © Bulls School 2026 Click here to unsubscribe. JUNIOR ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Kia ora koutou

I hope you were able to enjoy some of the lovely weather we were treated to over the long weekend.

Easter Raffle: Huge congratulations to the lucky winners of our Easter Kete/Baskets which were chocka full of goodies. This was drawn under police supervision on Wednesday afternoon. The results are below. We do appreciate the incredible support of our fundraising from our whānau and community.

Disco: The BSSG have organised a Easter themed DISCO for our tamariki to enjoy. Again, there is more information further down in the newsletter. A reminder, this is a Bulls School-only event, students from other schools are not permitted to attend. There will be staff supervision and parents/caregivers need to collect their tamariki from the Scout Hall on or before 7.30pm. We will not allow students to make their own way home unless that has been arranged via the office beforehand.

Junior Athletics Day: Our debut event went so well. The weather could have been kinder to us but overall we were so impressed with the PAL’s (senior students who are trained as Physical Activity Leaders). They ran the stations and the young students rotated around the various activities. It was great to host students and whānau from other schools and great to have such enthusiastic engagement and participation. The feedback about our PAL’s and the event itself has been super positive and we hope this will become an annual event.

Interschool Athletics at Hunterville School: We had an amazing day last week. For many it can be quite a long day and the competition is next level! We were super excited to have four Champions from Bulls School across the age groups (see picture below) which is no easy feat!! We also want to acknowledge the behaviour and positivity of the group who attended as representatives of Bulls School. We await formal confirmation of the results.

Junior trip to Mt Lees reserve is happening next week. This is a great connection to our Enviroschools commitment.

Top Town: There is a poster to encourage you to come along to this event, but there is also a notice coming home encouraging you to get involved. We are looking to pair students and adults (or older students) up to move through the various rotations with a focus on having fun. The activities will be a mixture of things such as: puzzles, challenges, crafts and sports and some might even be considered plain silly! It’s all about enjoyment and saying goodbye to term 1 with a bang. Please let us know if you can come along and partner your child asap so that we can organise the pairs across the school.

As this is our last newsletter for the term – we wish you all a safe and happy holiday break. Take care on our busy roads. Term 2 begins on Monday 29th April at 8.50am and our Pōwhiri to welcome new students and whānau starts at 9am – all welcome.

Ngā manaakitanga, Kim Gordon, Tumuaki.

The Junior Hub is super excited about their trip to Mt Lees Reserve next Thursday. We do however need your child’s permission slip to come back so they can attend – please return these by this Friday.

SUBSCRIBE TO APP GROUPS

Di has refreshed this and named each group with 2024 so you know it’s relevant and up to date. You will all need to join the groups specific to your tamariki.

This has important notices for either the whole school or specific groups eg: Bus Students, Sports, Cultural, Hubs, etc that you can join according to what your child’s involved in.

Many notices or reminders go out via the APP so it is an important tool for parents to be aware of what is due eg: permission slips and dates for events offsite, transport required etc. This is also an efficient way to provide absence notices.

In many cases, parental permission may be given via the app as well.

UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS

Our uniform and the way we wear it is connected to our PRIDE values. Taking PRIDE in our kura and our appearance as well as acknowledging the necessity to be sunsafe sits behind our decision to introduce a Bulls School Bucket Hat as a part of our regulation uniform. This has been an expectation since the beginning of 2023. Hats are available online or in-store for $20 and they come in 2 different sizes. Once you have yours PLEASE clearly name/label it. Matching 175 potae to 175 heads is much simpler when they are clearly named.
