Bulls School School Newsletter Positivity-Respect-Integrity-Determination-Excellence NEWSLETTER TERM 1 WEEK 3 Kia ora e te whānau, What a fantastic start to the term we have had! It has been wonderful to see the energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork across our kura as our tamariki, staff, and whānau continue to achieve amazing things together. There is a real buzz around the school and it has been great to see everyone getting involved, supporting one another, and celebrating success. A special highlight recently has been our Aspiration Conversations. It was fantastic to see such amazing attendance from our whānau — thank you to everyone who made the time to come along. These conversations are a wonderful opportunity for us to learn from one another as we share ideas, hopes, and goals for the year ahead. By identifying the aspirations of our whānau, students, and staff together, we can build a shared pathway forward. This combined and unified approach reminds us all of the important role we each play in supporting our tamariki to flourish. Last week’s Swimming Carnival was a highlight! It was a fabulous day filled with smiles, encouragement, singing and fun. Our tamariki showed amazing team spirit as they supported their houses and peers. It was fantastic to see so many whānau there cheering them on. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. We’re also looking forward to our TRY-athlon tomorrow. The excitement is building already and we know it will be another fun-filled event where our tamariki can challenge themselves and support their friends. The Pizza lunch, organised by our amazing BSSG, is also definitely going to be a highlight for the day.  Remember sausages, drinks and juicees will also be on sale during the event for our supporters. Keep an eye out as well for Rangitīkei Reads. You never know when or where you might spot a great book somewhere fabulous. It’s all part of the fun of celebrating reading across our school and community, so stay curious and see how many you can discover.  Thank you whaea Leigh for yet another of your fabulous initiatives. As always at this time of year, there are quite a few bugs making their way around. Please take care of yourselves and your whānau. If you or your tamariki become unwell, the best place to be is at home resting and recovering. And please remember to contact the office if your tamariki is absent. Thank you for the wonderful support you continue to show our school. Together we are creating a positive, supportive place for our tamariki to learn, grow, and thrive. Ngā mihi nui Megan Syme Changes to Our School Newsletter We have been increasing the number of school events, updates, and reminders shared on our school Facebook page to help keep our community informed in a more timely way. We are also transitioning to the Hero platform in Term 2, which will allow us to share important information directly with whānau in a more streamlined and accessible format. As a result of these changes, we are considering removing our fortnightly school newsletter. Our goal is to ensure communication with our whānau remains clear, relevant, and easy to access, while avoiding duplication of information across multiple platforms. Before making any decisions, we would value feedback from our whānau. Please feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, or any concerns about this proposed change. You can send your comments to the school office or speak with a member of the leadership team. Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to improve the way we communicate with our school community. Copyright © Bulls School 2026 Click here to unsubscribe. 2023 Term 3 Week 6

Kia ora koutou
Week 6! Gosh I feel like this term started just the other day!

Rangitikei Tough Kids:
This event is finally here. For us, it has been on our radar for months because as the host school, we have the opportunity to turn it into a major fundraiser. This means that behind the scenes our amazing BSSG have been super busy. They have organised not only food stalls (see the poster) but also all the many many finer details that go into making a day like this run smoothly such as: tables, funnels, meat trays, serviettes, onions, rubbish bags, tongs….the list just keeps on going! What we have asked our whānau to help with is providing some baking that we can sell at the event to help boost our fundraising efforts – see the other poster below ;-). You can deliver this to the office any time from now until 8.15am on Friday morning. You rock!

Winter Sports:
These are winding down now and I want to take this opportunity to do a loud and proud shout out to the coaches, managers, and players. Your dedication and giving up your time and putting your energies into supporting this kaupapa is what ‘grass roots winter sports’ is built on. You rock!

Pet and Enviro Schools Day:
Great news! We have received some registrations and have enough for judging catagories in both junior and senior lamb. Not so great news: We don’t have any calf entries at this stage. To make it worthhwhile from a judging perspective, we need at least 5 entries for senior and 5 for junior. If you are interested let us know and when we reach the magic number of entries we will let you know.
We are planning the day to be inclusive of all of our students and so lamb judging will be a part of it, but there will be the opportunity for children to register other pets as well as a focus on our Enviro School projects and plans for the future. We are also putting together a fun house competition with whānau involvement – more information to come!

Quad Sports:
These have been a part of the Rangitīkei Schools calendar for many years now and continue to be an event that focuses on participation, having a positive attitude to sport and giving things a go. The codes are: Rugby, Soccer, Netball and Hockey and our tamariki from Year 5-8 have all signed up for one of them. If you have been helping us out with coaching and offered transport we are really grateful…you rock!

As I sign off today’s newsletter….e whiti ana te rā, the sun is shining! Fingers crossed for a repeat of this day on Friday for our Tough Kids event.

Ngā mihi nui,

Health Curriculum: Relationships & Sexuality Education.

Thank you to everyone who either attended the hui, provided feedback or replied to my emails. We are now ready to begin the teaching of this programme. If you would like a copy of the overview/lesson plans specific to your childs year level please make contact with the office: office@bulls.school.nz and Di will direct your request to the relevant teachers.

Healthy Active Learning
This is a joint initiative between Sport NZ, Te Whatu Ora Health NZ and the Ministry of Education to improve the wellbeing of tamariki through healthy eating, drinking and quality physical activity.

Our school has been on a learning journey along with 7 other schools in our region and 30 across the Whanganui, Rangitīkei and Ruapehu region. This programme gives our school access to 1 Regional Lead, 3 Healthy Active Advisors and 3 Community Connectors. They work with our staff and tamariki through a model of Te Whare Tapa Wha to improve our skills and fill our kete with new and fun ways of teaching a positive attitude towards wellness.  We have been working in partnership with the HAL team for the past 7 terms and we have 5 terms of the contract left. We really want this programme to continue as we develop new goals for our tamariki around health and well being.
Next week Raylene Castles the CEO of Sport New Zealand will visit our kura to hear about our journey and I plan to take the opportunity to share the many ways our tamariki and kaiako have benefited from being a participant in the HAL programme and discuss how we can continue to grow and develop this past 2024.

POU TĀHŪ

Students in Pou Tāhū have been learning about plants. They have enjoyed watching their plants grow and are looking forward to being able to plant their seedlings in the school garden by the end of this term.

We have just enough entries for the Junior  & Senior Lamb section for judging at Ag Day, if you haven’t already registered please do so on permissions on the App.

Please can our coaches return all sports bags

Pet & Agricultural Day with a Go Green lens! Save the date: Friday 22nd September All events & activities are yet to be confirmed but lock it in! There will be something in it for everyone including our parents & whānau!
