Bulls School School Newsletter Positivity-Respect-Integrity-Determination-Excellence NEWSLETTER TERM 1 WEEK 3 Kia ora e te whānau, What a fantastic start to the term we have had! It has been wonderful to see the energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork across our kura as our tamariki, staff, and whānau continue to achieve amazing things together. There is a real buzz around the school and it has been great to see everyone getting involved, supporting one another, and celebrating success. A special highlight recently has been our Aspiration Conversations. It was fantastic to see such amazing attendance from our whānau — thank you to everyone who made the time to come along. These conversations are a wonderful opportunity for us to learn from one another as we share ideas, hopes, and goals for the year ahead. By identifying the aspirations of our whānau, students, and staff together, we can build a shared pathway forward. This combined and unified approach reminds us all of the important role we each play in supporting our tamariki to flourish. Last week’s Swimming Carnival was a highlight! It was a fabulous day filled with smiles, encouragement, singing and fun. Our tamariki showed amazing team spirit as they supported their houses and peers. It was fantastic to see so many whānau there cheering them on. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. We’re also looking forward to our TRY-athlon tomorrow. The excitement is building already and we know it will be another fun-filled event where our tamariki can challenge themselves and support their friends. The Pizza lunch, organised by our amazing BSSG, is also definitely going to be a highlight for the day.  Remember sausages, drinks and juicees will also be on sale during the event for our supporters. Keep an eye out as well for Rangitīkei Reads. You never know when or where you might spot a great book somewhere fabulous. It’s all part of the fun of celebrating reading across our school and community, so stay curious and see how many you can discover.  Thank you whaea Leigh for yet another of your fabulous initiatives. As always at this time of year, there are quite a few bugs making their way around. Please take care of yourselves and your whānau. If you or your tamariki become unwell, the best place to be is at home resting and recovering. And please remember to contact the office if your tamariki is absent. Thank you for the wonderful support you continue to show our school. Together we are creating a positive, supportive place for our tamariki to learn, grow, and thrive. Ngā mihi nui Megan Syme Changes to Our School Newsletter We have been increasing the number of school events, updates, and reminders shared on our school Facebook page to help keep our community informed in a more timely way. We are also transitioning to the Hero platform in Term 2, which will allow us to share important information directly with whānau in a more streamlined and accessible format. As a result of these changes, we are considering removing our fortnightly school newsletter. Our goal is to ensure communication with our whānau remains clear, relevant, and easy to access, while avoiding duplication of information across multiple platforms. Before making any decisions, we would value feedback from our whānau. Please feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, or any concerns about this proposed change. You can send your comments to the school office or speak with a member of the leadership team. Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to improve the way we communicate with our school community. Copyright © Bulls School 2026 Click here to unsubscribe. FUN DAY FRIDAY

Kia ora koutou,

I feel like it has been a very long time since I have written a newsletter! I was so lucky to have the support of our Board of Trustees and the staff to spend time away from school for my daughter’s wedding. It was a magical day and I would do it all over again if I could. Having 100 of my favourite people together for the first time in a long time was so special. I have shared a couple of my pics of Stevie and my new son-in-law Chris below and one of me helping her into her dress.

WHĀNAU OPEN DAY: Being able to open up our classes for the first time in a long time for whānau day was pretty awesome. The weather on the other hand – not so much! To those of you who braved the cold and the rain to pop in and spend time in classroom spaces – thank you! We look forward to planning more whānau events in the future.

REPORTS: Your child’s mid-year report will be coming home with them on Thursday 23rd June. Bring these along with you to your child’s Learning Conference the following week as they will help frame our conversations and guide goal setting.

LEARNING CONFERENCES: Tuesday 28th June and Thursday 30th June. We will open these up for bookings over the coming days.

WINTER WELLNESS & ADVISING US OF ABSENCES: Please continue to do your best to monitor the wellness of your child and follow health and safety advice and we will continue to do the same. Our attendance has all but returned to normal following our disruptive Term 1 however we know some winter lurgies are about so please be vigilant. Letting us know either by phoning in or using the school app is a huge help to us. It means we can quickly identify which students we need to follow up with to ensure the safety of your tamariki.

WHEELS AT SCHOOL: On a daily basis we have the capacity to manage bikes and scooters. Other types of wheels require additional supervision so unless we specify we are having an ‘other types of wheels’ day please keep it to bikes and scooters (and don’t forget helmets).

MATARIKI CONCERT: We will do our very best to provide an entertaining show for you to come along and enjoy. Please remember we have not been able to sing or gather in groups for quite some time and our amazing ngā Kaiako (Ashleigh, Hine, Papa Doug) are doing their best to find times to work with our tamariki to produce a worthy show – we have complete faith in them and can’t wait to see you at Te Matapihi on Wednesday 22nd June @ 5.30pm.

POU TĀHŪ

It was wonderful having our whānau in on Friday. I know your children, and all the tauira really enjoyed spending time with you & sharing our hub. A special thank you for not only showing an interest in your own child/ children, but for making all of our tamariki feel special. It truly does take a village to raise a child, and as we reflected on the day we felt pretty blessed with what an amazing village we have. We are looking forward to having you in our space again soon. This week we were lucky enough to have Brett McGregor come in to our kura. He’s part of the team that designs our school lunches. Our Hub was given the opportunity to try some kai that we may not usually eat, and also to create Canapés! Pickles, beetroot, sprouts & spinach were some if the vegetables consumed, and we can report- no children were harmed in the making. A big focus was on giving new foods a chance, and realising that sometimes different combinations of kai can make food really tasty. Ask your children about the coocumber… far better than a cucumber!

KĀPATA MANAAKI

Give what you can, take what you need! Thank you so much to the whānau who have been bringing things in to share. In these tough times, your donations truly are appreciated by our whānau. If there is anything you have an abundance of or something you no longer require, have upgraded & no longer wish to keep and it’s in good working order, or tidy condition, please think of the Kāpata Manaaki before adding it to landfill.

MATARIKI

We would like to plan a Matariki Celebration.

KAI COOKER & VOLUNTEERS WANTED.

Whānau have suggested having a hangi as a way to celebrate Matariki this year.

We have one kai cooker but would need more for our whole kura to be involved in this celebration.

We are thinking we would do this on Thursday 23 June

To make this happen we need:

More Kai Cookers Do you, or anyone you know, have access to a kai cooker that we could use?

Whānau Support Adult helpers – a couple of hours on Wednesday to help prep the kai and we’ll also need assistance on the day to help prep kai and put into cookers, and to help serve kai.

If you’ve got any ideas, questions or offers of support please contact Whaea Amie- abrown@bulls.school.nz by 3 June please. I will let you know next newsletter (8 June) whether we have enough support for this to go ahead. Ngā Mihi, Amie Brown

Lunch in School

The Ministry provides free healthy lunches daily, you will need to provide morning tea and a water bottle for your child. Please let the office know of any dietary requirements, alternatively, you can opt-out of the Lunch Scheme by contacting the office and then provide your own healthy lunch.

SEND HEADLICE PACKING!

If you find head lice or eggs – you need to treat them. Repeat the treatment: 7–10 days later for chemical treatments and every day for wet combing if you can manage it, but at least every 2 to 3 days.

For more information, talk to your pharmacist, doctor or nurse.

If you have any second-hand uniform you would like to donate we would greatly appreciate it.
