Bulls School is a 'happening place 'and we hope you enjoy viewing what is 'happening' here. People sometimes ask me what is special about our school - I believe it is our teachers' commitment and their caring approach, the Board of Trustees determination to see each child reach THEIR potential, and also our 'community belonging' within Bulls. We place emphasis on our students taking responsibility for their own learning and alongside individual goal setting and aiming for 'bullseyes', report to parents in writing 3 times a year through our Progressive Report. Students attend their Learning Conferences with their parent/caregiver (twice annually) - this allows a 'team' approach to celebrate successes and establish 'next steps'. These things, combined with effective use of modern technologies, help us to keep students motivated and engaged in their own learning - we all learn best when we can see the purpose and feel involved in the process! Term 3's topics of focus include a Social Science unit called 'Around the World' and then Social Science and PE entitled' Who am I?' Feel free to contact us if you would like to visit our school. ADMINISTRATION OPEN EVENING - AUGUST 2010 MATHEX TEAM 2010: Mrs Dixon is in charge of upskilling our mathex teams to prepare them for the really fast paced and challenging Mathex Competition held each year in Palmerston North. See how much concentration and hard work goes into this: WHAKANUIA TE WIKI O TE REO MAORI For Maori Language week we were treated to a visit from the Ohakea Cultural Group. They were very funny but they were also very clever. They taught us some great ways to remember new words we are taught. They taught us a new Waiata and we sang it in rounds. We sounded pretty good too! If you would like to learn some new words or our new Waiata please check out Room 1's page. **!!!!JUMP JAM!!!!** There is no better way to warm up to learning on these cold winters daythan by kick starting yourself with a bit of fitness. Go to our Gallery to take a peek at us warming up with Jump Jam. Wow! Double Wow!! This was an amazing visit (and big thanks to Mrs Buchanan for organising it!) It was like having a planetarium at school! We got to go into an igloo type building and once inside we were plunged into darkness and the night sky magically appeared above us. The Star Lab Teacher was really really knowledgable about space, planets, meteorites, supanovas, and everything else we have been learning about. Having 'Star Lab' nearer the end of our Space Study was great too. We had already found out heaps - and alot of our 'wonderment' questions had been answered. We are located in the rural township of Bulls between Wanganui and Palmerston North. We believe in high quality teaching and learning in Literacy and Numeracy. We also believe students need to experience a balanced curriculum including the arts, science, social sociences, health and technology. Regular physical fitness is also an important part of our programme.
